Allied Engineering Stores

Our shop is at 23 Stand Rd, and it has been there since forever. It’s one of those places where the shelves go all the way up to the ceiling and are packed with things you didn't know you needed. Allied Engineering Stores is a bit of a maze. If you ask for a specific bolt or a valve, we usually know exactly which dusty corner it’s hiding in. The street outside is always jammed with carts and people, so it gets pretty loud. We don't do online ads or anything like that. People mostly find us because they’ve been coming here for decades or their father told them about us. The counter is made of heavy wood and it’s worn smooth from years of people leaning on it while they wait for their orders. We have a few guys who have worked here since they were teenagers, and now they are the ones teaching the new kids. It is a slow pace of life inside the store, even if the world outside is moving fast. We don't have a fancy computer system for everything; sometimes we still write out receipts by hand. It works for us. We like the personal touch and knowing the names of the regulars who drop in every week to see what we have in stock.
