Ais Engineering Works

At No. 12/1 Cristan Pathway in Thakurpukur, things stay pretty busy. Ais Engineering Works is right here where the lane gets a bit narrow. If you are coming down Cristan Pathway, you can usually hear us before you see us. There is always the sound of metal or machines running. The floor is concrete and usually has some grease stains on it no matter how much we sweep. It’s a workshop, so it isn't supposed to be pretty. We have tools hanging on the walls and spare parts tucked into corners. The ventilation is okay, but it gets hot in the summer months. We usually keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze comes through Thakurpukur. It’s a local operation, nothing too complicated. Most of the guys have been working here for a long time and they know where everything is kept. If you move a wrench, someone will notice. We get a lot of people stopping by just to ask directions or check on their orders. The tea stall around the corner is where we spend our breaks. It is a simple life of making things and fixing things. We don't have a big front office or anything, just the workspace and a small table for paperwork. We stay until the light goes dim and it's time to lock up the heavy shutters for the night.
