Abhinav Bharati Balmandir

Located at 11 Pretoria Street in the Midleton Row area, our school is right in the middle of a busy part of town. It’s an old building, the kind with thick walls and high ceilings that stay a bit cooler in the summer. We’ve been here at Abhinav Bharati Balmandir for a long time, and the neighborhood has changed a lot around us. There’s always traffic outside, but once the kids are inside the gates, it feels a bit more secluded. We mostly handle younger children, so there’s a lot of energy in the building from morning until the afternoon bell. The classrooms aren't huge, but we make the most of the space we have. You’ll find old wooden cupboards and stacks of paper everywhere, which is just how a busy school looks. We don't have a lot of fancy technology or big slogans plastered on the walls. We just focus on the basics like reading, writing, and making sure the kids play nice with each other. The staff here are used to the noise and the constant movement. We spend our days making sure everyone is where they should be and that the lessons are moving along. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes, especially during drop-off and pick-up times on Pretoria Street, but we’ve got a system that works for us. It’s just a normal place where we work hard and hope the kids enjoy their time with us.
