It is an old part of the city, so the building has that classic Kolkata feel to it. Working as Abhijit Dutta Associates, we spend our days dealing with a lot of paperwork and numbers. Being Chartered Accountants, our desks are usually piled high with files. Rabindra Sarani is a very busy street, and there is always the sound of trams or cars or people shouting outside our windows. We don't have a modern, sleek office with glass walls. Instead, we have wooden desks and old shelves that have seen a lot of work over the decades. It is a very practical environment. We have a small team here, and we all know each other well. Most of our clients are people from the local area who have been coming to us for a long time. We don't do much in the way of advertising; people just know we are here at number 265. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the city air, but we don't mind. We just focus on getting the tax work and the audits finished on time. It is a traditional way of working, and we find that our clients appreciate the lack of pretense. We are just a local firm doing our job in a historic part of town without any fuss.
