Virangana Mahila Agro Producer Companylimited

Virangana Mahila Agro Producer Companylimited is a group of us women from the Sangaon area in Kagal. We are based at house number 1818, which belongs to the family of Shri Mali Dhondiram Shankar. Kolhapur is a very green place with lots of farming, and we have been a part of that since we were kids. This company was formed so that the women here could have more of a say in how our crops are handled and sold. We meet up at the house in K Sangaon to discuss what we are going to grow and how to manage the money. It is not always easy to find time between taking care of the house and working in the fields, but we make it work. Our office is just a regular room where we keep our ledgers and some bags of seeds. We talk about everything from the price of diesel to how the local markets are doing. The men sometimes give us advice, but mostly we run things ourselves. It feels good to have something of our own in Kolhapur. We are not trying to be some huge corporation. We just want to make sure our families are okay and that our hard work in the soil actually pays off. There is a lot of laughter during our meetings, but we take the business side of things very seriously when it comes to the harvest.
