Tulasiprasad Mahila Farmer Producercompany Limited

Our group is located at house number 865 in Sadoli Kh. That’s in the Karveer taluka of Kolhapur. We are a bunch of women from the village who got together to run this producer company. Farming in Kolhapur is a serious business and we’ve all been doing it for a long time. We wanted to have a place where we could manage our own sales and help each other get better prices for what we grow. The office is just a room we use in the village where we keep our files and meet up once or twice a week. It’s usually pretty loud when we all get together because everyone has something to say about the crops or the weather. We don't have a receptionist or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably just find one of us sitting there with a notebook. We talk about seeds and how the soil is doing after the last rains. We share what we have and help each other when someone is short-handed. It’s a simple way of working but it works for us. We don't try to be something we aren't. We’re just village women trying to make the farming life a bit more stable for our families. It takes a lot of time away from our homes, but we think it’s worth the trouble to work together and share the load.
