Tejaswiniudyogini Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is a group we started for the women farmers here in Malage Bk, which is in the Kagal Taluka of Kolhapur. We operate out of Shri Kerba Krishana Kambale’s house. For a long time, the women in our village have been doing the bulk of the work in the fields but didn't have much of a say in the business. We wanted to change that. Now, we come together to manage our own produce and make decisions that help our families. It’s not always easy because we still have our homes and kids to look after, but we manage. We deal with the typical crops you find in the Kolhapur district. Most of our meetings happen after the morning chores are done and the sun is high. We talk about how to get better prices for what we grow. It’s a very grassroots thing. There isn't any corporate structure, just a bunch of neighbors working toward the same goal. We help each other out with seeds and learning better ways to farm without spending too much money. It feels good to have something of our own. The office is small, just enough room for the ledger and some chairs. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the women here are treated fairly for the hard work they do in the sun every single day.
