About Swami Samarth Flour Mill – Food & Beverages in Kolhapur
If you walk down towards Shukrawar Peth near Panchganga Hospital, you’ll probably hear our machines before you see us. Swami Samarth Flour Mill has been at Survey No-1679 in D Ward for years. The air inside is always a bit white from the flour dust, no matter how much we sweep the floors. It’s a small space, and it gets pretty warm when all the grinders are going at once during the busy hours. We get all sorts of people coming in with their bags of grain. Some are regulars who have been coming since they were kids, and now they bring their own families here. We don’t do anything fancy. People bring their wheat or jowar, we weigh it, and then it goes into the mill. The noise is constant, so we’ve all learned to talk a bit louder than normal to be heard. Being near the hospital means it’s always busy outside, with traffic and people moving around the street. Sometimes we have a backlog and people have to leave their bags and come back later in the afternoon. We try to keep things moving fast, but some days the power is finicky or a belt breaks on one of the machines. It’s just me and a couple of others keeping the place running. We close up when the last customer leaves. It’s honest work, and the smell of fresh flour never really gets old, even after all these years of doing this every day.
