You will find us at House No. 126/1 in Sambare village, which is in the Gadhinglaj part of Kolhapur. Shrine Farms was set up because a few of us felt we were better off working together instead of competing. Gadhinglaj has its own specific climate and its own set of problems for farmers. We grow things that work well with the soil we have here. Our office isn’t anything fancy; it’s just a house in the village where we all gather. We do not have a lot of strict rules or a corporate hierarchy. We just know that if we buy our supplies in bulk, it is cheaper, and if we sell our produce together, we might get a better deal from the buyers. That is the whole point of this. We spend most of our time out in the fields, so if you come looking for us and the office is empty, we are probably just out checking on the crops. We do not use any big fancy words to describe what we do. It is just farming. We deal with bugs, the rain, and the shifting market prices every single day. Some years turn out good, and some are pretty bad. But having the company means we do not have to face the bad years all by ourselves. We share the risks and the rewards as a group. People in Sambare know us because we are their neighbors.
