Shri Laxminarayan Rice Mill

Down here in Jambhavade, near Kudal, we run this rice mill. It has been in the family for a good bit of time now. People from the surrounding villages bring their paddy here for us to mill it. It is a noisy place when the machines are running, but that is just how a mill is supposed to be. We are located in the Sindhudurg district, which is a nice area but it can get very rainy during the monsoon. The mill is not huge, but we have enough space to stack the heavy bags. We focus mostly on the local harvest from the farmers nearby. You can smell the grain as soon as you walk into the yard. It is hard work, especially during the harvest season when everyone wants their rice processed at the same time. We do not have a big office or a place for people to sit. Most of the time, I am out there with the machines or talking to the farmers about their loads. We take care of the milling and make sure the husks are cleared out properly. It is a practical business. We do not spend money on fancy signs or anything like that. People know where we are because they have been coming here for years.
