Shree Vidyalankar Classes & Sanskar Kendra

Our place, Shree Vidyalankar Classes & Sanskar Kendra, is tucked away in Jarag Nagar, specifically at Plot No 6/7 in Shri Hari Niwas. It’s right behind the Vitthalai Nagari Credit Society and near the last bus stop, which makes it a bit of a landmark for people in this part of Kolhapur. We call it a Sanskar Kendra because we try to do more than just teach math or science; we also talk to the kids about manners and general life stuff. The building is a regular house that we’ve converted for our needs. It feels a bit more personal than a typical commercial office. Since we are near the last bus stop, it’s actually quite easy for students to get here even if they live a bit further away. We have a small outdoor area where the kids can stand and talk for a few minutes before class starts. Inside, the rooms are filled with books and various charts pinned to the walls. It’s a family-run operation, so you’ll often see one of us making tea or sorting out the monthly accounts at a small wooden desk. We don’t have a lot of rules, but we do ask the students to leave their shoes neatly outside the door. It’s just a quiet, local spot where we try to do our best for the neighborhood kids. We end up spending a lot of time just organizing the bookshelves after the younger kids have been through them.
