If you walk down near Panchmukhi Maruti Chowk, you’ll find our place not too far from the Ram Mandir. Being near the temple means we get to hear the bells and the general buzz of the market all day long. It’s a busy part of Sangli, and that energy sort of leaks into the rooms here at Rajeshri Shahu Maharaj Spardha Pariksha Kendra. We have stacks of books everywhere because competitive exams require a lot of reading material. Sometimes the piles get a bit messy, but we know where everything is. The students come here with a lot on their minds, mostly worrying about their futures and the tough tests they have to take. We try to keep things calm, even when the fans are whirring and it’s hot outside. There is a small area where students leave their shoes, and by midday, there is a whole mountain of them. We’ve been in this spot for a bit, and we’ve seen the streets change around us, but our daily routine stays pretty much the same. We open up, tidy the desks, and wait for the first group to arrive. It’s a lot of hard work for everyone involved, but there is a sense of community among the people who study here. We don’t have any big slogans or shiny signs. It’s just a place to sit down, open a book, and try to learn something new before the day ends.
