Our place is at Sitaram Dattu Jadhav’s house, number 158/4 in Lingnoor. We are right in the middle of the Gadhinglaj area. It’s a busy part of the country for farming. We aren't just growing things; we also do some work processing what comes out of the fields. It means there’s always a lot of noise from the machines. We’ve got some basic equipment to clean and sort the harvest before it goes out to the markets. It’s a lot of work to keep those old machines running, and someone is usually covered in oil trying to fix a belt or a motor. We started this because we wanted more control over what happens to our crops after they are picked. We have a few workers from the village who come in every day to help. We eat lunch together under the big tree outside when it’s too hot to stay inside the shed. The smell of grain is everywhere. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. We just talk to the people we know and sell to the markets nearby. Sometimes we stay late into the night when a big shipment needs to go out on a truck. My hands are always calloused, but that’s fine. We take pride in seeing the bags loaded onto the trucks at the end of the day. It’s a decent living and it keeps us close to home. Lingnoor is a good place to be if you like to work hard and see real results from the soil.
