Precision Jaggery

Nagala Park is a nice area. We're right by the Rotary Shahu Blood Bank. It’s usually busy around here because of the garden nearby. We spend our days dealing with sugarcane and the heat of the boiling pans. It gets messy sometimes. Jaggery making isn't exactly a clean desk job. We've been at this for a while now. Some days the smoke gets in your eyes, but that’s just part of it. We try to keep things moving. The neighbors know us by the smell of the boiling syrup. It’s a sweet smell that fills the air around Assembly Road. We don’t have fancy offices or anything. Just a place where we get the work done. People stop by sometimes while they’re out for a walk in Mahavir Garden. We show them how the blocks are set. It’s hard work, especially in the summer. But we like being in this part of town. There’s always someone passing by on their way to the hospital or the park. We just focus on the batches we have for the day. Sometimes the machines act up, so we spend half the morning fixing a belt or cleaning out a filter. That’s just how it goes here. We don’t make a big fuss about it. Just regular folks doing what needs to be done every day. It’s a bit hot and sticky, but it’s our life and we’re used to it. We keep our tools ready and just start again every morning.
