Hotel Shankar Govind

Our place, Hotel Shankar Govind, is right in Mahalaxmi Chambers, number 519 E. One thing about being here is that we are so close to the ST Stand. Because of that, we see a lot of tired travelers who have just stepped off a long bus ride and need a place to sit down. The building is a bit older, and the hallways are narrow, but it has a familiar feel to it. We don't have any air conditioning in the common areas, so the fans are always spinning. The food we serve is local Kolhapuri style, which means it can be a bit spicy for some, but that’s how we like it here. We see people from all over the state coming through. Some are just here for a quick meal before their next bus, while others stay the night in our simple rooms. The furniture is heavy wood, and the floors are easy to sweep. It gets very busy during the festival seasons when everyone is heading to the temple. We don't use fancy computers for everything; a lot of our notes are still kept in paper ledgers. It’s a bit old-fashioned, I suppose. The staff is used to the rush and they don't talk much, they just get the work done. It’s a practical choice for anyone traveling through Kolhapur. We are just a plain hotel for regular people.
