Hobbes Classes

We started Hobbes Classes here in Vishrambag a few years back. The building is nothing special, just a regular spot in Sangli where we keep the doors open for students. Most of the time, the rooms are full of the sound of shuffling papers and pens clicking. We have those wooden benches that have been around since the beginning. Some of them have scratches from kids sitting there for hours. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the ceiling fans that hum all day long. Outside, you can hear the traffic from the main road, but inside everyone is usually quiet. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the construction nearby, but we try to keep it clean. People usually find us by word of mouth. We don't do big advertisements or anything like that. Just a simple sign near the entrance. Most students live nearby and walk or come on their cycles. They park them out front in a messy row. It’s just how it is. We spend our days going through textbooks and writing on the board. The chalk gets everywhere. Sometimes we stay late when a big exam is coming up. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know the subjects. It’s a lot of work but it’s what we do. We like the routine of it. Vishrambag is a nice area to be in. Everything is close by. We just keep things moving one day at a time.
