Datta Engineering

If you’re in Sangli, you might know where Trupti Hotel is. We’re right behind it at number 1015. Datta Engineering is basically a workshop where we get our hands dirty every day. There’s usually a lot of noise from the machines, so it’s not a place for a quiet chat. We’ve got grease on our clothes and metal shavings on the floor most of the time. It’s a tough job, but it’s what we do. We don’t have an office with air conditioning. We just open the big shutters and let the air in. Sangli gets hot, but you get used to it after a few years. We’ve been in this same spot for a long time. Our neighbors know the sound of our shop starting up in the morning. We don’t have a website or a marketing person. Most of our work comes from people who have known us for decades. We fix things, we build things, and we don't make a big deal out of it. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend all night fixing it. That’s just part of the trade. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy storefront. We just want the work to be solid. If the customer is happy, they’ll come back next time. That’s our way of doing things. It’s hard work, but it keeps us going and pays the bills.
