Danole Dal Mill

Out here in Village Jambhali, things move a bit slower than the city. Our mill is located near the Shivraye Mala Road in the Shirol Taluka. It’s a rural spot, mostly surrounded by fields. When the harvest comes in, it gets really hectic. We have farmers coming in with their tractors and carts full of grain. The Danole Dal Mill is basically just a big shed with the processing units inside. It gets quite loud when the motors are running, you have to yell to be heard. We spend a lot of time cleaning the machines. Dust gets everywhere, in your hair and on your clothes. It’s just part of the job. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just open up early and stay until the work is finished. Sometimes we sit outside on old wooden crates during the break. You can see the hills from the road. The weather really dictates our schedule. If it rains too much, the roads get muddy and the trucks struggle to reach us. We just do our best with what we have. It’s been this way for years. My family has always lived around here, so we know the land and the people. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know how to do. The rhythm of the seasons is what keeps the mill running, and we just follow along with it.
