Swastik Marbles

You can find us over in Maheshwari Colony, pretty close to the Ravinder Rangmanch in Madangunj. It’s a busy part of town, and there is always something going on nearby. Swastik Marbles has been sitting here for years, watching the town grow around us. We have a lot of competition in Madangunj, so we just focus on our own yard and the stone we have in stock. The marble comes in from the local quarries, and we spend our time sorting it by grade. It is heavy, back-breaking work, but it’s what we know. My father taught me how to look for the grain in the stone to see if it will hold up. We don't use any fancy sales tactics. If you like a piece of marble, you take it. If not, you look at the next one. The office is small and usually has a few flies buzzing around in the heat. We keep a cooler with water for anyone who stops by, which is needed during the summer months. The ground is always covered in white dust, and it gets into your clothes and hair. We don't mind much. It’s just part of the trade. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the most famous shop. We just want to sell our stone and go home to our families at night without any trouble.
