Hytek Marbles Pvt Ltd

We’ve been here on Harmara Road in Kishangarh for quite some time now. This industrial area is always busy, mostly with trucks coming in and out carrying heavy slabs. At Hytek Marbles Pvt Ltd, our days usually start early, before the sun gets too hot over the Ajmer district. The yard is full of different stones, mostly marbles because that is what this whole town is known for. You can see the white dust everywhere, it just comes with the job. My father used to say that if you aren't covered in a bit of stone dust by noon, you haven't really worked. We spend most of our hours checking the blocks and making sure the cutting machines are running like they should. Sometimes the power goes out, which is a bit of a headache, but we manage. People come by looking for stuff for their new houses or maybe just a small piece for a kitchen top. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and moving things around with the cranes. We don’t have any fancy office here, just a simple desk and some chairs where we sit with customers to talk about what they need. The weather in Rajasthan can be pretty tough, especially in the summer months, but we are used to it by now. We just keep doing what we do, day after day, keeping the yard organized as much as possible while the orders come through. We take our tea breaks under the shed and then get back to moving the heavy blocks. It's a long day, but we prefer being outdoors than sitting in a stuffy room all the time.
