Sumkit Marble Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of the Old Industrial Area in Madanganj for quite a while now. This part of town is pretty old and the roads are a bit rough, but it's where all the action is for stone. Our yard is filled with all sorts of marble that we've collected from different places. It’s a lot of work just keeping track of everything. We don't have some high-tech system, mostly just our eyes and a bit of chalk to mark the slabs. On a typical day, we are out there in our work clothes, moving things around to make room for more. People stop by and we walk them around the stacks, showing them the different patterns. Sometimes the stone is a bit dusty, so we have to throw some water on it to show the real color. It's a simple process. We don't have a big sales pitch or a fancy showroom. What you see in the yard is what we have. It can be hard work when the sun is beating down and we have to load up a big order, but we just get through it. We've seen the industry change over the years, but the stone stays pretty much the same. It is just us here, doing the work and trying to keep the yard moving. We might not be the fastest, but we do the job properly and keep things moving.
