Working at Shree Kamdar Marbles (P) Ltd in the RIICO Industrial Area means you get used to the sound of machines pretty fast. Our place is in the 3rd Phase, specifically at F-195 and 196. It is a big space because marble slabs take up a lot of room. We spend most of our days moving heavy stones around and making sure nothing gets chipped. The industrial area is always dusty, and everyone here is busy with their own factories. We have different kinds of marble sitting out in the yard. Some are white, some have veins of color, and some are just plain stone. It is heavy work. You need strong hands and a bit of patience to deal with marble. Customers come by to look at the pieces before they decide what they want for their floors. We do not have a glossy showroom. It is just the factory and the storage area. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to work outside, especially when it rains, but we keep going even then. The guys in the back have been with us for years. They know how to handle the cranes and the cutters properly. It is a practical business. We focus on the stone and making sure the measurements are right when someone places an order. It is just how things are done here in this part of the city. We do not try to be anything we are not, just stone workers.
