Saraf Stones

Our place is right in the Industrial Area on Makrana Road. If you know Madanganj, you know how crowded it gets with all the marble transport. We’ve got Saraf Stones set up here, and it’s mostly just us and the workers handling the loads. It’s not a glamorous job. Most days are spent covered in a bit of white slurry from the saws. We keep a variety of stones out in the back, mostly whatever is coming in from the local quarries. The yard is a bit cramped sometimes when a new shipment arrives. We have to move things around with the crane, which takes a lot of focus so nobody gets hurt. It’s a loud neighborhood with all the factories around us, but we like being near the action. My brother and I usually handle the people who walk in. We don’t do much advertising; word of mouth mostly keeps us going. If someone needs stone, they usually just find us by the road. Sometimes the electricity goes out and everything stops, so we just sit and talk until the power comes back. That’s just life in this part of town. We’ve seen the area change a lot over the years, with more buildings going up every month. We just keep doing what we know and try to stay organized.
