Rajlaxmi Marbles

Setting up shop here on Prayawaran Road was a practical choice because of how the 2nd Industries Area in Madanganj stays busy. We are right near the petrol pump, which makes it easy to explain to people where to find us when they’re driving in. At Rajlaxmi Marbles, the day usually starts early before the sun gets too hot. We spend a lot of time looking at different lots of stone and deciding which ones are worth keeping in the front. It’s a lot of manual labor, shifting pieces and washing them down so people can actually see the color properly. The road outside stays pretty loud with all the trucks going by, but you get used to it after a few weeks. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that, it’s just a few of us making sure the inventory stays organized. Sometimes the slabs arrive from the quarry a bit rough, so we have to spend time checking them over. We try to keep things simple for the folks who come in. They usually have a rough idea of what they want, and we just walk them through the rows of stone we have sitting out. It’s honest work, even if we go home covered in white dust every evening. Madanganj is a tough place to work because of the heat, but being near the pump means we can always grab a quick chai or something when there’s a break in the traffic.
