R. K. Marbles

If you head down to the industrial area and look for the 2nd Paryavaran Road, you’ll find our yard. R. K. Marbles has been sitting on this lot for a good while, surrounded by other warehouses and workshops. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but it gives us the space we need for the heavy marble blocks and slabs. The area is mostly trucks and forklifts moving around all day. We spend most of our time out in the sun, checking the quality of the stone that comes in from the quarries. Marble is tricky because it breaks if you don't handle it just right, so we have to be careful with every load. Our office is just a small room where we keep the books and escape the heat for a few minutes. It’s a simple operation—we buy stone, we store it, and we sell it to whoever needs it for their construction projects. We don't have a marketing department or a website that looks like a magazine. We just rely on the fact that people know we are here on 2nd Paryavaran Road when they need a decent price on marble. Sometimes the yard gets a bit cluttered, but we try to keep the paths clear for the customers. It’s hard work, but there’s something nice about seeing a house finished with stone that came from our dusty little corner of the industrial area.
