R. B. Marble

Being here at R. B. Marble puts us right in the heart of the Marble Mandi. We are on Makrana Road in the Madanganj Riico area, just down the way from R. K. Marble. It’s a very competitive spot because everyone around here is selling stone. I spend most of my time just keeping things tidy so we don't look like a mess compared to the bigger neighbors nearby. The trucks are constantly moving in and out of the Mandi, and the noise of the horns never really stops until late at night. I usually sit in the front with a notebook, keeping track of what goes out on the trailers. We get a lot of walk-in traffic because of where we are located. Sometimes people come in just to ask for directions, and we end up showing them our slabs anyway. The marble business is all about the quality of the block you start with, and I spend a lot of time traveling to the quarries to pick them out myself. It’s a lot of driving and bargaining. Back at the yard, we just try to keep the cutting machines running smooth. It’s a lot of maintenance work, greasing the chains and changing the blades. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in the Mandi, just a reliable one where people can get what they need for their house without a lot of fuss. It's just simple, honest work.
