You’ll find us out on NH-8, right near the overbridge in Madanganj. Being near the highway means we see a lot of big trucks and people traveling through. Our yard is pretty large because you need a lot of space for marble. We have these massive slabs leaning against each other. It’s a bit intimidating if you aren’t used to it. The overbridge is a good landmark, so people don’t usually get lost trying to find us. We spend our days grading the marble and moving it around with the big loader. It’s a noisy place with the highway traffic and the machinery running. We don’t have a fancy front office with coffee machines. We usually just have a water cooler and some chairs in the shade. The marble comes from the local quarries, and we see all kinds of quality. Some pieces are perfect and others have a bit of character. We just tell it like it is when someone asks. Madanganj is a big hub for this kind of stuff, so we’re just one of many, but we try to do our work without any fuss. It’s a lot of physical labor, and the sun can be brutal out here on the highway. We just keep our heads down and get the orders ready. When the day is over, we lock up the gates and head home. That's our life.
