Our place is located on Harmara Road in Madanganj. It is a long road with many stone yards, and we are one of them. We have been here for a good while, dealing mostly with marble blocks. The place is quite big but it is always cluttered with stone pieces and old crates. We don't have a big fancy office. We just have a small cabin near the entrance where we sit and talk to the drivers. It gets very noisy when the saws are running through the big blocks. The water runs all day to keep the blades cool. We don't have any polished brochures or sales people. If you want to see the marble, you just walk out into the yard with us. We have a few guys who help with the loading. They are strong and have been with us for a long time. We treat everyone the same. We drink tea from the local stall and talk about the weather and the prices. It is a simple life. We don't have a big mission or any corporate goals. We just want to sell the stone we have and buy more for the next month. My hands are always covered in white stone dust. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves. It is just the way things go here on Harmara Road. We stay busy and don't complain much. The blocks keep coming in and the slabs keep going out. That is all we do.
