Prakash Marbles

Prakash Marbles is over at Plot No G-452 on Tunkra Road. We are part of the Phase 4 section of the Riico Industrial Area, right near the Tara-Mar Hotel. It’s a good landmark because people often get lost looking for these plot numbers in the industrial zone. I’ve been running this yard for a while and it’s mostly just about managing the space. We have a lot of different stones coming in from all over the region. My day usually involves talking to the crane operators and making sure the slabs are stacked safely. If you don’t stack them right, they can fall and that’s a big loss for us. The area around the hotel gets quite a bit of traffic, so we see a lot of people passing through. I keep a small chair outside my shed so I can see who is coming down the road. The dust here is thick, especially when the wind picks up from the plains in the afternoon. I usually have to wash the stones down with a hose so customers can actually see the colors underneath all that white powder. We don't bother with fancy brochures or sales pitches. If a man wants stone, he looks at the stone and decides. We just help him load it up. It's a long day, starting at sunrise and finishing when it’s too dark to see the veins in the marble anymore. We just keep at it every day.
