Poonam Marble

If you’re driving down Paryavaran Road in Madanganj, you’ll likely pass right by us at Poonam Marble. We are situated quite close to the main Marble Mandi, which means there’s never a quiet moment around here. The road is often filled with tractors and big lorries moving blocks of stone back and forth. It’s a practical kind of place. We don’t have any polished showrooms with bright lights; it’s more of a yard where the stone speaks for itself. The weather gets hot in this part of Rajasthan, and the sun really beats down on the white slabs we keep outside. We spend our days mostly outdoors or in the small shaded area near the gate. People from all over come through here looking for something specific, and we just try to help them out as best as we can. Being near the mandi helps because everyone knows this route. Sometimes we sit and have tea while waiting for a delivery to arrive. It’s just how things go in this line of work. There isn’t much to say other than we show up, handle the stone, and go home when the sun sets. The dust settles on everything eventually, but that’s just how it is on Paryavaran Road. We’ve grown used to the constant hum of the machines nearby and the smell of wet stone after a wash. It is just our little corner of the world where we get things done.
