O. P. Marbles

If you drive down Makrana Road, you will see a lot of places like ours. O. P. Marbles has been sitting here on this stretch for a long time. It’s a simple place, really. We just have our stocks of marble lined up for anyone who needs them. Makrana is famous for its stone, so there is always a lot of pressure to keep things moving. I spend most of my time outside, checking the blocks or talking to the cutters. It’s not an easy job because the weather can be really hot out here on the road, but we are used to it by now. My boots are usually white with marble dust by the end of the day. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us making sure the orders are ready and the stone is cut right. Sometimes we have a cup of tea with the drivers while they wait for their loads. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know the name O. P. Marbles because we’ve been on Makrana Road for so long. Every piece of stone is different, so you never really get bored of looking at it. That’s basically our life here. Just cutting stone and selling it to whoever comes by. It’s honest work and we keep at it. There is not much more to tell about us.
