Mahima Marbles

You can find Mahima Marbles out on Tunkra Road in the Marble Industrial Area of Madanganj. We are located right opposite Saidin, which is a good landmark if you are trying to find the gate. The sun hits this part of the road pretty hard in the summer, making the slabs almost too bright to look at without squinting. We spend the better part of our day standing out there or sitting on the bench near the entrance. The yard is always a bit messy with pieces of stone and water from when we wash the slabs to show the veins to someone. It’s a very practical kind of place. We don’t go in for much decoration in the office. It’s mostly just the ledgers, a few chairs, and the sound of the ceiling fan. Tunkra Road is always full of tractors and big lorries moving back and forth, so there is a lot of noise. We mostly just keep to ourselves and wait for the next load to come in. It takes a lot of effort to move these pieces around, so we spend a lot of time talking to the crane operators. When a customer comes by, we just walk them through the rows and show them what we’ve got on hand. It’s a lot of walking on uneven ground. We keep the gates open until late and then head home once the traffic on the main road dies down.
