Kiran Stonex

You can find us at Kiran Stonex, which is inside Khandelwal House on Station Road. Being near the station in Madanganj means there is always something going on. There is a lot of movement with people coming and going. Our space is filled with different kinds of stone pieces. We spend the morning sorting through what came in and making sure everything is where it should be. It’s not always organized perfectly, but we know where everything is. When someone walks in, we usually just put down whatever we are doing and walk them through the rows. Sometimes it’s quiet and we just sit and watch the traffic on Station Road, and other times three trucks show up at once and it’s a bit of a mess. We try to keep the slabs clean so the patterns show up well, but the dust always wins in the end. Working at Khandelwal House has its own rhythm. We’ve seen the area change a bit over the years, but the stone business stays pretty much the same. You need a sturdy pair of shoes and some patience. We don't try to act like we are some big company. We are just here doing our job on Station Road, helping people find a nice piece of stone for whatever they are building. It’s a simple life and we like the people we meet every day while working with these heavy stones.
