Tatkal Travels

Our little office is at M 53 in Samant Vihar, over in the Chandrasekharpur area. We are quite close to Kalinga Hospital, which is usually how people find their way to us. Tatkal Travels isn't a place with a big staff or a lot of bureaucracy. It’s mostly just a couple of us handling the phones and the walk-ins. The office is small and can get a bit crowded when more than two people are waiting. We spend a lot of time looking at schedules and trying to make the timing work for everyone. Living in Bhubaneshwar, you get used to the way things move, and we try to plan around that. We don't have a polished marketing pitch. If someone needs a ride or help with travel plans, we just look at what’s possible and give them a straight answer. Sometimes we have to stay late to wait for a driver to check in, but that's part of the job. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy to worry about that. We just focus on the cars and the customers. It’s a simple way of working, but it’s how we’ve always done it. We know the neighborhood well and we like being part of the community here near the hospital. Most days involve a lot of tea and checking on the status of our bookings until the sun goes down.
