Swapneswar (Junior) College

The college is located over in Rajnagar, which is a quiet enough part of Kendrapara. Being a junior college, we deal with teenagers who are mostly thinking about what comes next after they finish their studies here. The building itself is pretty basic, just concrete rooms and some open space around it. We do not have a big fancy office; it is mostly just a desk and some filing cabinets for the paperwork. You can see the local life happening right outside the walls. There are trees that give a bit of shade in the afternoons, which everyone appreciates. The students usually hang out in groups near the entrance before the first bell rings. We do not have a lot of high-tech stuff, just the standard blackboards and some old maps on the walls. It is a bit of a walk from the main transport links, so many of the students arrive on cycles. The monsoon season is always a bit tricky because the ground gets soft and muddy, making it a chore to keep the floors clean inside. We just do our best with what we have. It is a place where everyone knows everyone else’s name. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours, and we just keep talking through the lessons until it comes back on. It is just the way things are in this part of Odisha. We do not make a big fuss about things, we just get on with the work.
