Olaver (Junior) College

Down in Kendrapara, specifically in the Olavar area, you’ll find our college. It’s a junior college, so we mostly see students who have just finished their tenth grade and are looking to do their next two years of study close to home. The building is simple and has been around for some time, situated right in the heart of the community. We don't have any big signs or fancy decorations out front, just the name on the wall. The students come in from the surrounding villages, often on bicycles or walking along the dusty roads of Olavar. The classrooms have high ceilings to keep things cool, though it still gets quite warm in the middle of the day. We have a small staff who have mostly been here for a long time, so everyone knows everyone else’s name. It’s a quiet sort of place compared to the big city colleges. We spend our time checking attendance, preparing for the board exams, and making sure the building stays in decent shape when the rains come during the monsoon. The office is usually busy with paperwork, especially during the admission season when parents come by to ask about the different subjects. It’s just a regular local college trying to do right by the young people in this part of Kendrapara. There isn't much more to it than that, just teachers and students working together every day in a plain, honest way.
