Shri Ram Rice Unit

We are based out in Village Chopri, which is part of the Taraori area. People know Taraori for the rice, and that’s exactly what we do at Shri Ram Rice Unit. Our place is officially a government recognized export house, which means we have to deal with a lot of forms and inspections. It’s a lot of work to keep up with all those rules. The village is quiet compared to the city, but our unit is always buzzing. We have huge piles of rice that need to be sorted and packed into bags. The smell of the grain is everywhere. You can't get away from it. We see a lot of trucks coming in from the fields to drop off the harvest. Then we have to get it ready to send far away. Village Chopri is a small place, so everyone knows who we are. We try to keep the machines running smooth so we don't fall behind. Exporting is a tough business because the timing has to be just right. If the trucks are late or the paperwork is wrong, everything stops. We spend a lot of time in the warehouse checking the moisture and the weight of the bags. It’s dusty and hot work, especially in the summer. We just take it one load at a time and try to stay organized among all the sacks of grain.
