Randhir Singh And Sons Producer Company Limited

Our group is run from Randhir’s house in Hassanpur. He is the son of Deep Chand, so most of the older folks in the village remember his father well. It is a family-run kind of thing, but with a few more people involved now that we are a producer company. We handle everything right from the porch or the small shed out back where we keep the tools and the grain bags. Hassanpur is a good place to be, though the roads can get pretty muddy when the monsoon hits. We spend a lot of time just talking to the other farmers about what is going on in the markets. It is not a formal place; you can just walk in and find someone drinking tea and looking over the accounts. We have a lot of sons and cousins helping out, which makes it easier when there is heavy lifting to do. Sometimes the power goes out for hours and we just have to wait it out, sitting in the dark and talking about the old days. We do not go in for big advertisements or anything like that. People just know us because we have lived here forever. We just want to make sure the work gets done and the crops are handled right so everyone gets their fair share. It is a lot of early mornings and late nights, especially when the planting starts, but that is how we have always done things in this family.
