Garhi Bazidpur Farmer Producer Companylimited is basically a group of us from the village who wanted to do things a bit differently. We are based at Kapil’s house, number 282, right here in Garhi Bazidpur. It’s a local setup. We don’t have a massive building with a sign outside. It’s just where we meet to discuss the crops and what’s happening in the market. Most of us have been farming our whole lives, so we know the soil around here pretty well. We thought that by coming together as a producer company, we might have a better chance of getting things done. It’s a lot of coordination, which can be a headache, but it’s better than being on your own. Kapil is usually around if someone needs to drop off papers or ask a question. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing department. If we need to get the word out, we just talk to our neighbors. The work involves a lot of waiting—waiting for the rain, waiting for the harvest, waiting for the buyers. In the meantime, we handle the business side of things from the village. It’s a practical way to manage our farming. We aren't looking to change the world, just to make sure we can keep our farms running and maybe help each other out when the prices drop or the seeds aren't good. It is just the way we do things here.
