Star Fly Ash Bricks

Out here in Village and Post Rawatpur, things move a bit slower than in the city. Star Fly Ash Bricks is just a small part of the local landscape in this district. We set up shop here because there was enough space to spread out the drying racks. Making fly ash bricks is a steady job. We mix the ash with sand and a bit of lime and cement. The machines make a rhythmic thumping sound that you get used to after a while. Most of the people working here are neighbors from Rawatpur. We know each other's families. When the harvest season comes, it gets a bit hard to find help because everyone goes to the fields, but we manage. The bricks we make are gray and uniform, which makes them easy to stack. We keep them in long rows that look like little walls. The kids from the village sometimes play near the edge of our property, though we try to keep them away from the heavy pallets. It’s a quiet life mostly. We deal with the local contractors who need materials for small houses or compound walls. We don't have a computer in the office, just a big book where we write down who took what and how much they owe. It works for us. The rain is our biggest worry because it can mess up the mix if we aren't careful. We just take it day by day and try to keep the machines running.
