Mittal Brick Field

You can find Mittal Brick Field over in Gram Haldharpur, which is part of the Bhognipur Tehsil. We are positioned pretty close to the National Highway, so we see a lot of travelers and trucks passing by all day long. The proximity to the highway is helpful for getting things moved, but it also means we are always in a bit of a rush to keep up with the pace. The air around here is usually thick with the smell of burning coal and wood from the kilns. It is a tough environment, especially during the peak of summer when the sun is beating down on the open fields of Haldharpur. We have a makeshift office near the entrance where we keep track of the loads coming in and out. It’s mostly just a table and some old chairs where we sit and talk to the drivers. The ground is uneven and gets really muddy when it rains, making it a challenge to get the tractors through. We don’t use any high-tech gadgets; it’s mostly just shovel work and manual labor. Every brick is handled several times before it ever leaves the yard. It’s a slow process that hasn't changed much over the years. We just keep our heads down and keep the fire going, trying to stay ahead of the orders that come in from the nearby villages and construction sites along the highway. Sometimes the smoke from the kiln drifts over the road and makes everything look hazy.
