Maurya Flour Mill And Oil Mill

Our shop is at 2/13 A in Patel Nagar, which is part of the Gandhigram area. We do both flour and oil here, so there is always a mix of smells. The scent of mustard oil is very strong, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the building. It is a small place and it gets cramped when there are a few people waiting. We have lived in this part of town for a long time. The machines at 2/13 A are almost always running. You can hear the motor hum from all the way down the street. It involves a lot of lifting heavy sacks and moving metal tins around. The oil part of the business is a bit messier than the flour. We get a lot of local folks coming in with their own grain to be ground. Sometimes they stay and chat for a while while the machine does its work. It is not a big corporate setup at all, just a few of us and the equipment. The floor is often a bit slippery near the oil press, so we have to use sawdust to keep it safe. My hands are usually stained or covered in fine dust. Gandhigram is a quiet enough spot but we stay busy from morning till night. We open early because that is when the regulars like to come. By the time we shut the doors, we are pretty worn out. We don’t have a website or anything. Most people just know the Maurya name through word of mouth.
