Chauhan Foods & Fragrances

Down at 33-F Gandhi Gram, you can usually smell us before you see us. Chauhan Foods & Fragrances is a small operation where we deal with spices and different scents for cooking and other uses. We have big bags of raw materials sitting on wooden pallets. It’s a bit cramped inside because we try to fit a lot of inventory into this small space. We spend our mornings weighing out portions on the scales and sealing the bags. It’s dusty work, and everyone here ends up sneezing eventually because of the pepper or the powders. We aren't a big factory with robots and belts. We do most of it by hand, checking the quality of the batches as we go along. Some people come by for a small packet of something for their dinner, and others want a whole crate for their own shop. We don’t have a fancy reception area with a sofa. You just walk in and someone will come out from the back to help you. The floor is old and the windows are high up to let the light in. We’ve been in Gandhi Gram for a good bit now, and we know most of the other shop owners on the street. It’s a busy place with a lot of noise from the main road nearby. We just keep our heads down and get the daily orders ready. It’s a simple life, working with things that smell good. We aren't trying to be the biggest company around.
