Batuk Nath & Sons

Batuk Nath & Sons has been sitting here at 76/493 in Kuli Bazar for quite a long time now. It’s one of those spots where the neighborhood knows everyone’s face. The shop isn't fancy or anything. We mostly spend our mornings getting things ready and waiting for the first few people to walk through the door. Kuli Bazar is always loud and crowded, which keeps things interesting throughout the day. You can hear the carts rattling outside and people shouting across the street. We just focus on getting through the list of work that needs to be done. Sometimes the electricity cuts out and we have to sit in the shade for a bit until it comes back. It is just the way things go here. My father used to sit in the same spot where I sit now. The wooden counters have worn down over the years from all the hands resting on them. We don't have a website or anything like that because most people just stop by when they are passing through the market. If you look for the shop, it's right in the middle of the block. We try to keep the inventory organized, but sometimes boxes pile up in the corners. It gets dusty, but that’s just part of being in an old building. We take our tea around four in the afternoon while watching the traffic. It’s a simple life. We don't really change much as the years go by.
