Reetu Marble

We have two spots really, one over at 84/227-a Afim Kothi in Kanpur and the other out in the Industrial Area Site-1 in Unnao at E-18 19. It keeps us moving back and forth quite a bit. Marble is what we do. It’s heavy and white and gets everywhere. If you look at our shoes at the end of the day, they are usually covered in white dust. We spend a lot of time in the Unnao site because that's where the big storage is. The Kanpur office is more for meeting folks and handling the cash and receipts. It’s an old building at Afim Kothi. We’ve got stacks of slabs leaning against the walls. You have to be careful walking around them. We don't have fancy lights or a polished showroom. It’s more of a working yard. Some days are loud with the trucks coming in from the quarries. We check the grain and the color of every piece. Marble is natural, so it’s never perfect. We tell people that. It’s got veins and spots that just happen. We like the way it looks, even the pieces that aren't perfectly smooth yet. It’s a lot of lifting and shifting. We don't use big words to describe what we do. We just sell marble and try to keep the stock moving between the two locations. Sometimes the traffic between Kanpur and Unnao makes things slow, but we manage to get everything where it needs to go.
