Our shop is at number 166 in the O-Block of the Marble Market. It’s right there in Transport Nagar, which is always buzzing with trucks and people. Being opposite the Gayatri Mission Hospital makes it easy for folks to give directions to our place. We deal with marble and various stones every single day. The market is a competitive place, but we just focus on our own yard. We spend the mornings checking what arrived overnight. The trucks come from all over, and unloading them is the biggest task of the day. You have to have a good eye to spot the cracks or flaws before you stack them up. Our hands are usually rough from handling the stone. It’s not a job for someone who wants to stay clean. We have some regular builders who come in and just point to what they want. Other times, families come in and spend hours debating between two shades of grey. We just let them take their time. There’s no rush here. The air in Transport Nagar is always thick with the smell of diesel and stone dust. We’ve got a small corner where we sit and eat our tiffin. It’s a simple life, really. We just make sure the stone is ready when someone needs it for their building project.
