Kappiyarai Collective Farming Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our small group is based in Kutiyadappuvilai, in the Kappiyarai area of Kalkulam. The name on our license is Kappiyarai Collective Farming Farmer Producer Company Limited. It sounds a bit formal, but we are just local farmers from the neighborhood. We started this because doing everything on your own was getting too expensive and difficult. We help each other with harvesting and finding people to buy our crops. Our office, if you can call it that, is at 343/9B. It’s mostly just a place to store some stuff and keep our paperwork in order. Most of the time, we’re out in the dirt anyway. The weather in this part of the district can be unpredictable, so having others to rely on makes a big difference. We grow a variety of things depending on the season. It’s a lot of trial and error. Sometimes a crop fails and we just have to start over. That’s just part of the job. We don't use any fancy marketing or have a big team of people. It’s just us and our families. We’ve been here for generations, and we hope to stay for many more. It’s a quiet place, away from the big city noise. We just want to work our land in peace and make sure we can put food on the table. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we know and we’re okay with that as long as we get by.
