Pride Surya Mountain Resort

Up here in Mcleod Ganj, the air is always a bit cooler than down in the plains. Pride Surya Mountain Resort is located right on H H Dalai Lama Temple Road. It’s a steep walk if you’re not used to it, but the views of the mountains make up for it. We see a lot of people walking by on their way to the temple, including the monks in their red robes and travelers from all over the world. Our day starts early, usually when the mist is still hanging over the trees. Dharamshala is a busy place, but our spot on the temple road feels like its own little world. We spend our time making sure the rooms are warm enough for the guests, especially when the winter sets in. It’s not just about the rooms though; it’s about managing the everyday stuff like laundry and making sure the kitchen is stocked. The road outside can get pretty narrow and crowded with cars and people, but that’s just how it is in the hills. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the town change quite a bit, but the mountains stay the same. We aren't doing anything fancy or over the top. We just provide a place to stay for people visiting the temple or just wanting to see the snow. It’s a simple operation run by a small crew who knows these roads well. We just keep the stoves going and the beds made for whoever arrives after a long journey up the hills.
