Hotel Snow Crest Inn

Running Hotel Snow Crest Inn up here in Naddi Mcleod Ganj is quite different from working in the city. We are situated near Dal Lake, which means the air is always a bit cooler and things are a lot quieter. Our building isn't a massive luxury resort; it’s more of a simple place for people to stay while they explore the hills. We spend a lot of our time making sure the rooms are ready and that there’s hot tea for when guests arrive. The walk up to the inn can be a bit steep, but the view of the mountains makes up for it. We don't have a big corporate team or a fancy concierge, just a few of us who live nearby and help out. Some days are very busy with hikers, and other days it’s just us and the sound of the wind. We have to deal with the weather, which can change pretty fast in these mountains. Sometimes the water pipes freeze in the winter, and we have to scramble to get them working again. It’s a lot of physical work, from carrying bags to cleaning up after breakfast. We don't have any big marketing plans, we just hope people enjoy the quiet and the fresh air. It is a simple life up here in the mountains and we are used to the pace of the seasons.
