Hotel Taragarh Palace

Hotel Taragarh Palace is located out in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. We are an old property, so we deal with old-property problems like damp walls in the monsoon and heavy wooden doors that sometimes swell and stick. We aren't a modern glass-and-steel hotel. We are a palace, which means things are grand but also a bit worn in places. Our staff is mostly made up of people from the nearby villages who have been with us for a long time. We don't have a polished front desk with people in uniforms that are too tight. We wear our sweaters and just get on with the work of keeping the place clean. The gardens take up a lot of our time. We’re always weeding or planting new flowers to keep the grounds looking decent for whoever comes to visit. Kangra has beautiful views, and we see them every day, so we sometimes take them for granted until a guest points them out. The kitchen is always busy making simple, hot food because the mountain air makes everyone hungry. We don't have a big corporate mission. We just want to make sure the rooms are aired out and the water is hot. It’s a slow, quiet life here in the 176092 area. We just take each day as it comes, whether it’s a sunny morning or a foggy afternoon.
